IVAN AYVAZOVSKY`S DESCENDANTS VISITED MOSCOW IN THE FRAMEWORK OF EVENTS MARKING PAINTER`S 200TH ANNIVERSARY #784

July 28-30, 2017 numerous events, dedicated to 200th anniversary of world-famous Russian marine painter of Armenian descent Ivan (Hovaness) Ayvazovsky were held in Feodosia, where he lived.

On this special occasion his descendants from Australia also attended the events. That was the first time they got acquainted with their «Armenian roots».

July 25, a reception for special quests was hosted at Archbishop`s Ezras residence in Armenian Holy Transfiguration Cathedral in Moscow with attendance of representatives of local Armenian Diaspora.

Guests were surprised at seeing Ayvazovsky`s painting in the residence and admitted that it was the first time they saw the original picture of their outstanding predecessor.

While touring the cathedral, Archbishop Ezras represented to attendees reliquary with piece of True Cross Of Christ, St. Gregory the Illuminator's Holy Relics and gold plated Bible, donated to the Armenian Holy Transfiguration Cathedral by Garun Kocharyan,  one of  the most active AJA members, owner of Prima Exclusive company.

Following the dinner, featuring dishes of Armenian cuisine, guests expressed their gratitude and stressed  that the visit was of great importance for them and, moreover, inspired them to visit Armenia.
