PRODUCTION OF SYNTHETIC DIAMONDS CONTINUES TO GROW #881

The production of synthetic diamonds continues to grow. Although the process is still in its infancy, natural diamond producers have already felt the danger to an industry that employs around ten million people, the newspaper les Echos. 

According to its data, the world production of laboratory grown diamonds increased from 350,000 to 2.5 million carats within four years. In 2018, production may reach 4.5 million carats, which will increase their market share to 2-3%. 


First three US producers of synthetic diamonds, including the laboratory Diamond Foundry in Santa Claus (California), among whose shareholders Leonardo Di Caprio, today are joined by companies in China, Singapore and India, which organized the production on an industrial scale, the newspaper notes.
