Armenian Treasures Exhibited at the Sir John Ritblat Gallery in London, England #75

NOVEMBER 20, 2012 ARMENPRESS. A display of Armenian treasures is on display at the Sir John Ritblat Treasures Gallery of The British Library until the end of January 2013.

Dedicated to the 500th anniversary of Armenian printing, the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia and the United Kingdom of Great Britain, and the designation of Yerevan as the 2012-2013 World Book Capital.

Armenpress reports, as per the official website of the British Library, that a number of magnificent manuscripts and rare specimens of the earliest Armenian printed books are being exhibited.

Printing in Armenian began in 1512 in Venice first, then spreading to European cities, the Near and Middle East, and India in the centuries that followed. Printing itself was introduced in Armenia in 1771.
